After careful consideration, the PESB selected Rajeev Kumar Sinha as the top choice for the post.

Selection After Intense Screening

The selection process was competitive, with 11 senior executives from major public sector coal companies and allied industries interviewed by the Board. Other key contenders included:

  • Nripendra Nath, General Manager, Magadh-Sanghmitra Area, Central Coalfields Limited
  • I.P.D. Rathi, GM/HOD (Safety and Rescue), Northern Coalfields Limited
  • Dhanraj Akhare, GM (Co-ordination), BCCL
  • Anup Hanjura, GM, Pench & Kanhan Area, Western Coalfields Limited

Executives from NLC India Ltd, NTPC Limited, and GHCL Ltd also featured among the applicants. Despite strong competition, Sinha’s experience and strategic role in BCCL’s CMD Secretariat appears to have given him the edge in the selection.

Industry Experience and Background

With years of operational and administrative expertise in the coal mining sector, Rajeev Kumar Sinha has played a pivotal role in technical coordination and leadership at BCCL. His tenure in the CMD Secretariat exposed him to top-level decision-making, technical evaluations, and corporate strategy — all crucial for the role of Director (Technical) at CMPDIL.

As Director (Technical), Sinha will oversee mine planning, exploration, design, and technical advisory functions — responsibilities critical to CMPDIL’s role as the technical consultant and think-tank for Coal India and its subsidiaries.

About CMPDIL
