Ranchi, Nov 10: Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) K Ravi Kumar has said that the election campaign for the first phase, scheduled to be held on November 13, will stop on Monday evening.

“Where the voting is to be held till 5 PM, the election campaign will stop at 5 PM and where the voting time is till 4 PM, the election campaign will stop 48 hours before at 4 PM on Monday,” the CEO added.

He said that with the end of the election campaign, the political people who went there for election work (who are not voters there) will have to leave from there. “If such people are caught after the end of the campaign period, action will be taken against them as per the rules,” he warned.

“On Monday, election workers will be sent to 225 booths through helidropping in five districts, West Singhbhum, Latehar, Lohardaga, Gumla and Garhwa,” he said while addressing a press conference at Nirvachan Sadan, Dhurwa on Sunday.

He said that on the day of voting, candidates set up their camps at polling booths, for which prior permission from the competent officer is mandatory.

“The camp should be outside the 200-meter radius of the polling booth. Camps cannot be set up at religious places or encroached places. There will also be a ban on putting flags, banners, symbols, photos etc. related to the candidate in that camp. Candidates can keep only one table and two chairs in the camp,” he said.

The CEO further said eating and drinking will also be prohibited there. “There is also a ban on returning to the camp after voting,” he added.

He appealed to all the candidates and said that they would ensure compliance with the rules of the Election Commission.

He appealed to the voters and said that they must carry the voter slip for voting. “Those who have not received voter slips should contact BAO or volunteer at the polling station and take tokens so that they can have convenience in voting. In case of not having a voter ID card, a voter will exercise his/her right to vote after identification of voter with 12 types of other valid identity documents.

The chief electoral officer said that 53 cases of violation of the Model Code of Conduct have been registered so far. A maximum of 28 cases have been registered in Garhwa district. Since the implementation of the Model Code of Conduct in the state, illegal material and cash worth Rs 176.15 crore have been seized, he said.
