PM Modi expresses solidarity after earthquake in Nepal kills 132

New Delhi, Nov 4: The Nepal police reported on Saturday that 132 people died as a result of the strong 6.4 magnitude earthquake that struck late on Friday. According to state-run Nepal Television, around 140 persons were injured in the Western Nepalese districts of Jajarkot and Rukum.

According to officials of the National Earthquake Measurement Centre, the epicentre of the earthquake was in the Lamidanda region of Jajarkot.

On Saturday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed grief for the deaths brought on by the earthquake in Nepal.

“Deeply saddened by loss of lives and damage due to the earthquake in Nepal. India stands in solidarity with the people of Nepal and is ready to extend all possible assistance. Our thoughts are with the bereaved families and we wish the injured a quick recovery”, PM Narendra Modi posted on his official X account.

Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal’s office in Nepal stated that all three of the nation’s security agencies have been called into action to provide prompt relief and rescue for the injured.

In the meantime, on Saturday, Prime Minister Dahal took stock of the nation’s earthquake-affected regions.

The nation’s Ministry of Home Affairs reported that there were also accounts of injuries and property damage emerging from other districts, including Dailekh, Salyan, and Rolpa.

Injured individuals were receiving medical care at a hospital located in Jajarkot, situated approximately 500 kilometres to the west of Kathmandu.
