Reports indicate that he will chair the seventh meeting of the National Board for Wildlife (NBWL) at the headquarters of Gir Wildlife Sanctuary in Sasan Gir.

The NBWL comprises 47 members, including the Army Chief, representatives from various states, NGOs working in the wildlife sector, Chief Wildlife Wardens, and secretaries from different states.

The central government has approved a fund of over ₹2,900 crore under Project Lion for the conservation of Asiatic lions, whose only habitat is in Gujarat. Currently, these lions are spread across 53 talukas in nine districts of Gujarat, covering an area of approximately 30,000 square kilometers.
