Ranchi, Nov.15: Prime Minister Narendra Modi today launched Rs 24,000 crore mega mission for giving justice to extremely backward tribals from Birsa College ground in Jharkhand’s Khunti district on the occasion of tribal icon Birsa Munda’s birth anniversary and the third Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas’.
“Under the Prime Minister Janjatiye Adivasi Nyay Mahaabhiyan, known as PM Jan Man, basic facilities such as road and telecom connectivity, electricity, safe housing, clean drinking water and sanitation, improved access to education, health and nutrition and sustainable livelihood opportunities will be provided to PVTG habitations, which are mostly remote, scattered and inaccessible,” he said.
In the budget of 2023-24, the launch of the Pradhan Mantri PVTG Development Mission was announced to improve the socio-economic conditions of the PVTGs. There are 75 PVTGs in 18 States & UTs living in 22,544 villages (220 districts) having a population of around 28 lakhs.
Governor CP Radhakrishnan, Chief Minister Hemant Soren, Tribal Affairs Minister Arjun Munda and BJP chief Babulal Marandi were also present on the occasion.
The mission will be implemented through the convergence of 11 interventions of nine ministries for instance, under PMGSY, PMGAY, Jal Jeevan Mission etc, with some scheme norms to be relaxed to cover these remote habitations.
Speaking on this occasion, Modi gave four Amrit mantras to make the nation fully developed by 2047. These four pillars are women, farmers, youth, middle class and the poor of the country.
The Mission, to be implemented through the co-ordinated efforts of nine ministries, will also cover all PVTGs under PM Jan Arogya Yojana, Sickle Cell Disease Elimination, TB Elimination, 100% immunisation, and various other schemes.
Modi said the ‘Sankalp Yatra’ will focus on reaching out to people and creating awareness, providing benefits of welfare schemes and enrolment of potential beneficiaries. The yatra will start from districts with a significant tribal population and by January 25 cover all districts across the country.
Modi also released the 15th instalment of PM-KISAN (about Rs 18,000 crores) to more than eight crore beneficiaries and inaugurated, dedicated and laid the foundation stone of projects worth around Rs 7,200 crore in the state across multiple sectors including rail, road, education, coal, petroleum and natural gas. Further, the achievement of 100% of railway electrification in Jharkhand was also be dedicated to the nation by the PM.
