Ghaziabad, August 30: A CBI anti-corruption court in Ghaziabad has sentenced Punjab National Bank recovery agent Dharmveer Singh to 23 months in prison and imposed a fine of ₹10,000 in a bribery case.
The verdict came on August 29, 2025, after the court accepted Singh’s application for plea bargaining, where he admitted his guilt.
The case dates back to September 14, 2022, when the CBI registered an FIR alleging that Singh had demanded a bribe from a complainant in Hathras.

He promised to influence the then branch manager for issuing a No Objection Certificate (NOC) related to a one-time settlement of a KCC loan account held in the complainant’s father’s name.
The very next day, on September 15, 2022, CBI officials laid a trap and caught Singh red-handed while taking a bribe of ₹10,000.
A chargesheet against him was later filed on November 14, 2022, and charges were formally framed by the court on August 24, 2023.

On August 6, 2025, Singh submitted his plea bargaining application, which was accepted by the Special Judge of the CBI Anti-Corruption Court in Ghaziabad, leading to his conviction and sentencing.
