Police forces are strong pillars of internal security, says Jharkhand governor

Ranchi, Feb 10: Jharkhand Governor Santosh Kumar Gangwar, while addressing the inaugural ceremony of the 68th All India Police Duty Meet-2025 at Marang Gomke Jaipal Singh Stadium, Khelgaon, Ranchi, emphasized the significance of such events. He stated that these gatherings not only highlight the efficiency of the police force but also foster mutual cooperation, encourage the exchange of new technologies, and boost the morale of policemen.

The Governor highlighted that police forces serve as the backbone of internal security, peace, and law and order in any nation. He praised their unwavering dedication to public and state interests, even in challenging circumstances. He also honoured the sacrifices made by many policemen for the safety of society and the state. Whether managing festivals, elections, natural disasters, or combating extremism, police officers carry out their duties with devotion, courage, and integrity. Governor Gangwar highlighted the rising challenges of cybercrime, financial fraud, human trafficking, and organized crime. To address these effectively, he stressed the need for police forces to be equipped with cutting-edge technologies and specialized skills. He also emphasized the importance of recently implemented criminal laws, describing them as a crucial step toward a more effective, transparent, and timely justice system. These laws aim to simplify legal processes, make justice more accessible and victim-centric, and ensure swift punishment for criminals while delivering prompt justice to victims.

The Vision of Smart Policing

The Governor further discussed the concept of Smart Policing, envisioned by the Prime Minister, which calls for a police force that is more sensitive, modern, vigilant, accountable, and technology-driven. He pointed out that police service extends beyond maintaining law and order; it plays a vital role in areas such as social peace, women’s empowerment, child protection, traffic management, and disaster response.
