President Droupadi Murmu’s surprise stop in Baridih wins hearts in Jamshedpur


Jamshedpur, Feb 26:
In a spontaneous and heartwarming gesture, President Droupadi Murmu stepped out of her official convoy in Baridih on Thursday evening to greet residents and interact with children, drawing loud applause and emotional reactions from the crowd.

After concluding her engagement in Kadma, the President’s convoy travelled along Marine Drive, Kharkai Link Road and Mango Roundabout before reaching Baridih via the Bhuiyandih route.

Crowd Waits for a Glimpse

Outside Manipal Tata Medical College, hundreds of people had gathered well in advance, many holding the national flag and eagerly waiting for a glimpse of the President. Women and children formed a significant part of the crowd, with slogans and cheers echoing through the area.

As President Murmu emerged from the college premises after attending a brief function, she noticed the enthusiastic gathering and directed her vehicle to halt.

President Walks Towards Residents

To the delight of onlookers, she stepped out and walked towards the crowd, acknowledging greetings with folded hands and warm smiles. The spontaneous interaction turned the atmosphere celebratory, with many describing it as a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

During her brief walk of nearly 150 steps, the President distributed chocolates among children, who beamed with joy at the surprise.

Tight but Smooth Security Arrangements

Security personnel maintained a vigilant yet unobtrusive presence, ensuring smooth movement without any untoward incident.

“I never thought I would see the President from so close. When she gave me a chocolate, I felt very special,” said a young student present at the venue.

A resident remarked, “We had been standing here for hours, but the wait was worth it. Her simplicity and kindness truly touched our hearts.”

Another onlooker shared, “This is a proud day for our locality. It is not every day that the President stops to meet people like this.”

The President’s brief yet meaningful interaction left Baridih residents with lasting memories and a renewed sense of pride.
