Narmada, Feb 27: President Droupadi Murmu on Thursday visited the Statue of Unity, the world’s tallest statue dedicated to Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and paid floral tributes to the Iron Man of India, honoring his pivotal role in unifying the nation.

Accompanied by dignitaries, including Governor Acharya Devvrat and Minister of State for Protocol Jagdish Vishwakarma, she explored the statue premises, where she was briefed on Patel’s contributions and India’s journey to independence.

During her visit, the President also took in the breathtaking views of the Sardar Sarovar Dam, Narmada River, and the surrounding Vindhya and Satpura mountain ranges from the heart of the statue. A guide provided insights into the construction, significance, and tourist facilities of the iconic monument.

Adding to the cultural significance of her visit, tribal communities from Sagbara and Tilakwada warmly welcomed the President with traditional Movi and Holi dance performances at the Wall of Unity.
President Murmu, who is on a four-day visit to Gujarat, spent the night in Narmada on Wednesday before heading to the Statue of Unity. As part of her itinerary, she will also visit Kutch and Dholavira and address convocation ceremonies at the National Institute of Design and the National Forensic Science University.
