New Delhi, Oct 2: President Droupadi Murmu and Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar paid their respects to Mahatma Gandhi at Rajghat in New Delhi on Wednesday, on the occasion of his 155th birth anniversary.

Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, accompanied by Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla and Union Minister Manohar Lal, paid their homage to Mahatma Gandhi at Rajghat.

Prime Minister Modi, in a post on X, offered his heartfelt tribute to Mahatma Gandhi on his birth anniversary, underscoring the enduring impact of Gandhi’s life and ideals of truth, harmony, and equality, which continue to inspire the nation.

“On behalf of all countrymen, salutations to Pujya Bapu on his birth anniversary. His life and ideals based on truth, harmony and equality will always remain an inspiration for the countrymen,” PM Modi posted on X.

Prime Minister Modi also paid homage to former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri on his birth anniversary.

“Respectful tribute to former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri on his birth anniversary, who dedicated his life for the ‘jawan’, ‘kisan’, and ‘swabhiman’ of the country,” PM Modi posted on X.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah, BJP national president JP Nadda and Bihar CM Nitish Kumar also paid respects to Mahatma Gandhi and Lal Bahadur Shastri.

Delhi LG VK Saxena and Delhi CM Atishi also paid homage to Mahatma Gandhi at Rajghat.

West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee also paid tributes to Mahatma Gandhi in a post on X.
