New Delhi, June 18: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi officially notified the Lok Sabha Speaker’s office on Tuesday that he will keep the Raebareli Lok Sabha seat and relinquish the Wayanad Lok Sabha seat.
Sources indicate that the Congress leader submitted a letter to the Lok Sabha Speaker regarding this matter today.
At a special press conference earlier on Monday, Congress head Mallikarjun Kharge declared Priyanka Gandhi’s candidacy from Wayanad. Priyanka Gandhi will contest the by-election from Wayanad seat.

On Monday, Priyanka Gandhi stated that she will run in the by-election from Wayanad, but her long-standing connection with Amethi and Raebareli will remain.
Notably, Rahul Gandhi achieved a significant victory in the Lok Sabha elections from the Wayanad seat in Kerala and the Rae Bareli seat in Uttar Pradesh.
On Monday, a meeting of Congress leaders was held at Mallikarjun Kharge’s residence to discuss this matter. Following the meeting, Kharge announced the decision at a press conference.
