Jamshedpur, July 1: The Ministry of Railways has announced a revision in passenger fare structures, effective from July 1, for select categories of trains and classes.
The revised fares are applicable to Amrit Bharat, Mahamana, Gatimaan, Antyodaya, Jan Shatabdi, Yuva Express, and trains equipped with AC Vistadome and Anubhuti coaches, as well as ordinary non-suburban services across the Indian Railways network.
Despite the fare revision, there is no change in ancillary charges, which include reservation fees, superfast surcharges, and other additional service charges. The Goods and Services Tax (GST) will continue to be levied according to existing norms, and fare rounding rules remain unchanged.

Highlights of the Fare Revision
* No Additional Charges Introduced
* Reservation fees, superfast surcharges, and other ancillary levies remain unchanged.
* GST will be charged as per prevailing rules.
* Fare rounding principles will continue as before.
Detailed Fare Structure (Effective July 1, 2025)
1. Ordinary Non-AC Classes (Non-Suburban Trains):
Second Class: Increased by 0.5 paisa per kilometre
Slab-wise hike:
No increase for journeys up to 500 km
Rs. 5 hike for 501–1500 km
Rs. 10 hike for 1501–2500 km
Rs. 15 hike for 2501–3000 km
Sleeper Class: Fares revised upwards by 0.5 paisa per kilometre
First Class: Fare hiked by 0.5 paisa per kilometre
2. Mail/Express Trains (Non-AC Classes):
Second Class: Increased by 1 paisa per kilometre
Sleeper Class: Increased by 1 paisa per kilometre
First Class: Hiked by 1 paisa per kilometre
3. All AC Classes (Mail/Express Trains):
Includes: AC Chair Car, AC 3-Tier (3A and 3E), AC 2-Tier, AC First Class, Executive Class, Anubhuti Class
Fare Increase: Uniform hike of 2 paisa per kilometre

Implementation and Ticketing Guidelines
The new fare structure is only applicable to tickets booked on or after July 1, 2025.
Tickets booked prior to this date will continue to be valid at the old fare rates.
The Railway Board has instructed zonal railways to update ticketing systems—including PRS (Passenger Reservation System), UTS (Unreserved Ticketing System), and manual booking counters—to reflect the revised fares.
Stations have been directed to update fare charts and displays to ensure transparency and facilitate a smooth transition.
The fare revision marks a calibrated approach to rationalizing passenger fares while ensuring that service surcharges and other passenger-friendly charges remain stable.
