New Delhi, Sept 27: Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw announced on Friday that additional coaches and special trains would be introduced nationwide for Chaath Puja and Diwali to facilitate smoother and convenient travel for passengers.
Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw highlighted the efforts being made to accommodate the increased demand for travel during the festive season. He stated that 108 trains will be equipped with extra general coaches, and 12,500 coaches have been sanctioned for special trains for Chhath Puja and Diwali.

He further noted that for the 2024-25 period, 5,975 trains have already been scheduled, which is expected to facilitate the travel of over 1 crore passengers during the busy Puja season.
Vaishnaw also mentioned that in 2023-24, a total of 4,429 special trains were operated to manage the festive rush.
