New Delhi, March 14: Former President Ram Nath Kovind, heading the High-Level Committee on ‘One Nation One Election’, met with President Droupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan and handed over the committee’s report on Thursday.

The report, spanning 18,626 pages, is the result of thorough consultations with stakeholders, experts, and research conducted over a period of 191 days since the committee’s establishment on September 2, 2023.

In the presence of all committee members, including Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Democratic Progressive Azad Party (DPAP) leader Gulam Nabi Azad and Union Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal the committee submitted its report.

High-Level Committee formed in September 2023
The High-Level Committee recently engaged in discussions with representatives from various political parties such as BJP, Trinamool Congress, Samajwadi Party, CPI, CPI(M), AIMIM, RPI, Apna Dal, among others.
Additionally, written suggestions were submitted to the committee by representatives of these parties.
A high-level committee was established by the central government in September of last year to look at the notion of “One Nation, One Election” and offer suggestions for holding simultaneous polls across the nation.
