Ayodhya, April 17: On the occasion of Ram Navami on Wednesday, the Ram Temple in Ayodhya saw a remarkable event as the forehead of the Ram Lalla sculpture was anointed with a ray of sunlight, known as ‘Surya Tilak.’

In the Ram Temple, an intricate system of mirrors and lenses was used to perform Ram Lalla’s ‘Surya Tilak’ at noon.

The temple trust enlisted a group of scientists to facilitate this event. Leveraging scientific knowledge, a ray of light illuminated the forehead of Ram Lala.

To accomplish this, sunlight was meticulously directed onto the statue’s forehead through a system involving mirrors and lenses.

This process was executed precisely at midday 12 noon and lasted approximately three minutes.

Devotees were in raptures during the Surya Tilak moment as Jai Shri Ram chants could be heard throughout Ayodhya and even in temples across the nation. Outside the Ram Janambhoomi Mandir, worshippers burst into song and dance.

This is the first Ram Navami following PM Modi’s Pran Pratishtha of the Lord Ram idol in Ayodhya on January 22.

56 varieties of bhog, prasad and panjiri

At Ram Janambhoomi Mandir, 56 varieties of bhog, prasad, and panjiri are being offered as part of the grand celebration of Ram Navami.

Earlier, the Chief Priest of Ram Janmabhoomi Temple Acharya Satyendra Das mentioned that all arrangements had been made, including the special dressing of the idol of Lord Ram for the occasion.

“He is dressed in yellow clothes, and after this he is bathed with Panchamrit. Four-five types of panjiris are made and along with that, 56 types of offerings are made to the Lord,” he said.
