THE JHARKHAND STORY NETWORK

Ranchi, May 8: The Ranchi administration has imposed prohibitory orders under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) around examination centres for the Jharkhand Combined Civil Services (Backlog) Preliminary Competitive Examination-2023 scheduled on May 10.

The examination is being conducted by the Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC), Ranchi, under Advertisement No. 06/2026.

The prohibitory orders have been issued by Sadar Sub-Divisional Magistrate Kumar Rajat to ensure malpractice-free conduct of the examination and maintain law and order near the centres.

The restrictions will remain effective from 7 am to 8 pm on May 10 within a radius of 200 metres of all designated examination centres.

Restrictions Imposed Near Examination Centres

According to the order, the following activities will remain prohibited within the restricted zone:

  • Assembly of five or more persons at one place, except officials engaged in government duty and funeral processions
  • Use of loudspeakers or sound-amplifying devices
  • Carrying firearms, explosives or weapons such as guns, rifles and revolvers
  • Carrying sticks, rods, bows, arrows, spears or similar objects
  • Organising meetings, demonstrations or public gatherings

Officials said magistrates, police officers and security personnel have already been deputed at all examination centres through a joint order issued by Deputy Commissioner-cum-District Magistrate Manjunath Bhajantri and Senior Superintendent of Police Rakesh Ranjan.

The administration said the restrictions were imposed amid concerns that anti-social elements might attempt to disrupt law and order near examination venues.
