Ranchi, February 5: Leader of the Opposition Babulal Marandi has demanded a high-level inquiry into reports of ₹10,000 crore allegedly missing from the Jharkhand government treasury, launching a scathing attack on the ruling dispensation.
Finance Minister’s order allegedly ignored
In a press communique, Marandi said Finance Minister Radha Krishna Kishore had directed the Finance Secretary to convene a meeting of all departmental secretaries to present a detailed account of the funds. However, instead of acting on the directive, the Finance Secretary forwarded the file to the Chief Secretary, where it has remained pending for the last three months.

He questioned why the government was avoiding a transparent investigation into such a serious financial issue.
The BJP leader pointed out that, like Chief Minister Hemant Soren, the Chief Secretary is also facing allegations in a land scam case. He alleged that this raised serious doubts about whether the delay was deliberate and aimed at suppressing the matter.
Marandi demanded that the Chief Secretary explain why no action had been taken on the file for three months and clarify who was responsible for the delay.
‘Serious economic crime’, says Marandi
Calling the matter a grave economic offence, Marandi said a thorough investigation was necessary to trace where the money went, whether it was invested elsewhere, and whether any benefit accrued to the Chief Minister or the Chief Secretary.
