Ranchi, May 1: Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) K Ravi Kumar today said that since the implementation of the Model Code of Conduct, goods and cash worth Rs 71.30 crore have been seized in Jharkhand.
This horde of cash seized during election season was apparently meant to woo the voters during the Lok Sabha elections.
41 cases of Model code violation
He said that since the notification of elections, a total of 41 cases of violation of the model code of conduct have been registered in Jharkhand. In this, a maximum of 6 cases each have been registered in Palamu, Hazaribagh and Ranchi, whereas 5 cases have been registered in Dhanbad, 4 in Seraikela-Kharsawan, 3 each in Garhwa and Giridih, 2 in Simdega and 1 each in Sahebganj and Khunti.
25 nomination papers filed
Speaking at a press briefing, the CEO said a total of 25 nomination papers have been filed so far for the fifth phase of elections. Among them, 12 nominations have been filed from Chatra Lok Sabha constituency, 7 from Koderma and 6 from Hazaribagh. A total of 3 nomination papers have been filed so far for the Gandey Assembly by-election. A total of 14 nominations have been made so far for the sixth phase of elections. Among them, 3 people have filed nomination papers from Giridih Lok Sabha constituency, 5 from Dhanbad, 2 from Ranchi and 4 for Jamshedpur Lok Sabha constituency.
