New Delhi, Nov 3: To review the “breach of privilege” case of Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MP Raghav Chadha, a meeting of the Rajya Sabha privilege committee (The Committee of Privileges of the Rajya Sabha) was conducted today.

According to sources, the committee has asked Chadha to provide a report by November 7 and the panellists will reconvene on November 8 to continue their discussion of the matter.

They added that all of the pending cases were discussed by the panel members at the committee meeting held in the Parliament House annexe extension building.

“The committee has sought a report from Raghav Chaddha by November 7 as it is scheduled to meet again on November 8,” a source stated.

The committee is investigating the pending charges of alleged privilege violations against MPs Raghav Chadha, Sanjay Singh, and Derek O’Brien.

The sources stated that during the meeting, the members aimed to ensure prompt processing and completion of the committee report concerning the cases involving breaches of privilege.

Following that, the report will be presented before the Council of States.

Notably, Singh and Chadha are both under house suspension at the moment.

On August 11, the AAP leader was suspended indefinitely from Parliament due to allegations that he did not ask some MPs for permission before deciding to include them in a proposed select committee to review the Government of National Capital Territory of Delhi (Amendment) Bill, 2023.

The panel discussion took place amid the backdrop of the Supreme Court’s observations in a lawsuit brought by AAP leader Raghav Chadha.

The highest court today asked Chadha to offer a sincere apology to Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar concerning the select committee matter and expressed the hope that Dhankhar would consider the issue with sympathy.
