RSS office attack in Ranchi: Terror links of accused surface after encounter, probe intensifies

Ranchi, June 18: A major development has emerged in the investigation into the petrol bomb attack on the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) office in Ranchi’s Nivaranpur area, with police sources indicating that the accused may have links to terrorist organisations.

According to sources, information gathered during the interrogation of the arrested accused, along with developments following an encounter on Thursday, has prompted investigative agencies to intensify the probe. Security agencies have also been placed on high alert.

Accused allegedly linked to terror organisations

Police sources said preliminary findings suggest that the arrested individuals may have connections with terrorist organisations. There are also reports that the National Investigation Agency (NIA) had been searching for some of the accused.

Investigators suspect that these alleged terror links could have been a factor behind the attack on the RSS office. However, officials are yet to make an official statement confirming the nature of the affiliations.

Accused injured while allegedly attempting escape

According to police sources, one of the arrested accused allegedly attempted to escape from custody on Thursday by breaking a lock-up window. During the incident, he reportedly snatched a weapon from a police personnel and tried to flee.

Police opened fire to stop him, injuring him in the leg. He was subsequently apprehended and admitted to a hospital for treatment.

Investigation widened

Sources said investigators have obtained significant information during the interrogation of the injured accused and other arrested individuals. Police are now examining their contacts, funding sources and possible operational networks.

With the emergence of suspected terror links, multiple security and investigative agencies have joined the investigation.

Petrol bomb attack on RSS office

The development comes days after unidentified persons allegedly targeted the RSS office in Nivaranpur with a petrol bomb late on Tuesday night. Police launched a swift operation following the incident and arrested the suspects.

Authorities have now expanded the scope of the investigation to determine whether the attack was part of a larger conspiracy and to identify any wider network that may be involved.
