New Delhi, September 9: The Supreme Court on Monday rejected the plea filed by Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader Abhishek Banerjee and his wife, Rujira Banerjee, which sought to challenge the Enforcement Directorate’s (ED) summons in connection with a money laundering case related to the West Bengal school jobs scam.

The couple argued that they should be summoned in Kolkata rather than New Delhi.

After having reserved the judgment on August 13, Justices Bela Trivedi and Satish Chandra Sharma announced the verdict today.

Abhishek Banerjee is being investigated by the ED for several cases, including alleged irregularities in recruitment at West Bengal schools and a multi-crore coal pilferage scam involving Eastern Coalfields Ltd. mines in the Kunustoria and Kajora areas near Asansol.
