Tianjin, Sept 1: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday urged Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) members to take decisive action against terrorism, radicalisation, and its financing, stressing that nations supporting cross-border terrorism must be held accountable.

Speaking at the 25th SCO Summit in Tianjin, he called for greater cooperation under three pillars — Security, Connectivity, and Opportunity — while highlighting peace and stability as the foundation for prosperity.

At the conclusion of the two-day summit, attended by Modi, Chinese President Xi Jinping, Russian President Vladimir Putin, and other global leaders, the SCO adopted a declaration reaffirming its collective commitment to fight terrorism in all forms.
The grouping strongly condemned the Pahalgam attack, as well as bombings in Pakistan’s Balochistan province, and concurred with India’s stance that “double standards in the fight against terrorism are unacceptable.”
It further recognised the central role of sovereign states and the United Nations in countering extremist threats and advancing global counter-terrorism strategies.
The declaration also voiced concern over the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, condemning Israel’s military strikes that have led to heavy civilian casualties.
