JAMSHEDPUR, May 30: Sona Devi University celebrated the completion of three years since its establishment with a special programme at the Vivekananda Auditorium, highlighting its achievements, future expansion plans and commitment to academic excellence.
The event was attended by faculty members, staff and students, and focused on the institution’s vision for growth, infrastructure development and academic innovation.
Three Years a Milestone, Not the Destination: Chancellor
Addressing the gathering, Chancellor Prabhakar Singh described the university’s three-year journey as an important milestone rather than the final destination.
“This journey has reached a significant stage, but the destination is still ahead,” he said, adding that the university’s progress over the past three years had come through sustained effort and that the real journey was only beginning.

Five-Year Development Plan Announced
Sharing the institution’s future roadmap, Singh revealed that a comprehensive five-year development plan has already been prepared.
He announced that construction of the university’s administrative building and hostels would begin soon, while sports infrastructure would also be developed in the coming years.
The Chancellor expressed confidence that the university would soon secure National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE) recognition and said paramedical courses would be introduced shortly.
He also highlighted the recently launched Artificial Intelligence and Computing programmes, describing them as potential landmark initiatives for the university.
Focus on Teamwork and Social Responsibility
Emphasising the importance of teamwork, Singh said collective effort greatly improves the chances of institutional success.
He urged university officials and employees to work with a shared sense of responsibility and purpose.
Addressing students, he said success should not be measured solely by marks or degrees but by an individual’s contribution to society and nation-building through excellence in their chosen field.
He also stressed that the effective use of available resources is often more important than the quantity of resources available.
University Highlights Achievements
The programme began with the ceremonial lighting of the lamp, followed by a Ganesh Vandana performed by students Lakshmi Murmu, Mousami Mahato and Rumi Das.
Assistant Registrar Archana Singh outlined the university’s mission, stating that along with quality education, the institution aims to ensure the overall development of students.
Registrar Nit Nayana highlighted achievements during the university’s first three years, informing the audience that 13 academic schools have been established.
She also said the university has signed several Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs), including one with Intel, to strengthen technical education. Discussions are also underway for collaborations with four more institutions, including NIT.
New Academic Programmes on the Horizon
Vice-Chancellor Braj Mohan Pat Pingua underlined the importance of research in the growth and reputation of higher educational institutions.
He announced plans to introduce B.Ed., D.El.Ed. and LL.M. programmes in the near future and said the university would undertake initiatives aimed at promoting awareness and generating employment opportunities for local communities.
The event concluded with the rendition of the national song and the national anthem, led by Sangeeta Choudhury, Head of the Department of Music.
