Jamshedpur, Nov 26: Dr JP Mishra, Vice-Chancellor of Sona Devi University, Ghatsila, passed away recently while undergoing treatment at a hospital in Bengaluru, casting a deep shadow of grief across the academic community.
His last rites were performed on Wednesday at Harmu Mukti Dham in Ranchi, where his son lit the funeral pyre.
Colleagues, students, and acquaintances expressed shock and sadness, remembering him as a pillar of the academic world.

A Distinguished Career in Education
Dr Mishra was an accomplished administrator, respected teacher, and exemplary leader who made significant contributions throughout his long academic journey.
He began his career in the Department of Psychology at Chandil College, Chandil.
He later became the Head of the Psychology Department at Kolhan University, Chaibasa, and also served as CCDCI, completing several important assignments with dedication.
At the time of his passing, he was serving diligently as the Vice-Chancellor of Sona Devi University, Ghatsila.
University Declares Mourning, Holds Condolence Meet
Following the announcement of his demise, Sona Devi University organised a condolence meeting and suspended all academic activities for a day as a mark of respect.
Chancellor Prabhakar Singh expressed deep sorrow, saying the loss was personal and beyond words.
Registrar Dr Gulab Singh Azad also paid heartfelt tribute, recalling his long association with Dr Mishra.
He said working with him was a valuable experience and that the void left by his passing is deeply painful.

The entire university community has joined together in praying for eternal peace to the departed soul.
