New Delhi, March 14: Philanthropist and author Sudha Murty took oath as Rajya Sabha MP on Thursday.
In his chamber at Parliament House, Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar administered her the oath. Piyush Goyal, the leader of the House, was also present on the occasion.
NR Narayana Murthy, Sudha Murty’s husband and co-founder of Infosys, was also present at the event with her.
Sudha Murty was nominated to the Rajya Sabha on the occasion of International Women’s Day on March 8 by President Droupadi Murmu.

Murty, 73, is the author of numerous books, most of which are aimed towards children, and a former chairperson of the Infosys Foundation.
In addition, she is well known for her contributions to English and Kannada literature. She has been honoured with the Padma Bhushan (2023), the Sahitya Akademi Bal Sahitya Puraskar, and the Padma Shri (2006).
British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak is married to her daughter Akshata.
