New Delhi, Jan 11: A hearing date has been set for January 24 in the Supreme Court on the petition filed by Jharkhand Health Minister Dr. Irfan Ansari. A bench comprising Justice BV Nagarathna and Justice Satish Chandra Sharma is presiding over the matter.
The minister has challenged in the Supreme Court the order of the Jharkhand High Court, which had dismissed a petition challenging the framing of charges by the Dumka Civil Court. The High Court’s decision on Irfan Ansari’s petition was delivered by Justice Arun Kumar Rai’s bench.

In 2018, the court took cognizance of a case against Irfan Ansari involving the viral circulation of a photograph of a minor rape survivor from a hospital.
A case was registered against him at the Jamtara police station, alleging that the photograph had been circulated from Irfan Ansari’s mobile phone. The matter is currently being heard in the Dumka MP-MLA Court.
On December 21, 2022, the Dumka Civil Court framed charges against Irfan Ansari in this case.
