New Delhi, May 9: Tahawwur Rana, the mastermind and key accused behind the 26/11 Mumbai attacks, was presented in the Patiala House Court on Friday. The court has ordered that he be sent to judicial custody until June 6, 2025.

Rana was recently extradited from the United States to India to face trial for his role in the deadly attacks.

In a key development, the court instructed the National Investigation Agency (NIA) to ensure that Rana undergoes a medical examination every 24 hours.

Additionally, the court granted him the right to meet with his lawyer every other day during his time in custody.

Rana has been placed in a high-security cell at the NIA headquarters, where he is closely monitored by CCTV and security personnel around the clock.

Sources indicate that the NIA has questioned Rana about his Pakistani handler, the sources of his funding, and possible sleeper cell networks. The agency also suspects that Rana had deep connections with Pakistan’s intelligence agency, ISI.

The NIA told the court that extended interrogation could lead to crucial revelations in the case.
