Jamshedpur, May 9: The steel city police have solved a case involving extortion and firing at a scrap dealer’s shop, leading to the arrest of three notorious criminals. The accused were sent to judicial custody on Friday.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Rupesh Dubey alias Rahul (26) from Ulidih, Shantanu Kumar (24) from MGM Hill View Colony, and Nandlal Singh alias Bunty (20) from Ulidih Repeat Colony.

Police recovered one country-made pistol, three country-made guns, and four live cartridges from their possession.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Kishore Kaushal said that the accused had demanded extortion money from a scrap dealer in the Ulidih police station area by threatening him with firearms. When the businessman refused, the accused opened fire at his shop to instill fear.

Considering the seriousness of the incident, a special raid team was formed under the leadership of the Ulidih police station in-charge.

The team acted swiftly and arrested all three culprits. The SSP also mentioned that all the accused have a history of criminal activities and multiple cases have previously been registered against them.
At present, further investigation into the matter is underway.
