Jamshedpur, Aug 25: Tata Steel’s Ferro Alloys Plant (FAP) at Gopalpur has transitioned from furnace oil to Piped Natural Gas (PNG), marking a significant step towards cleaner and more efficient operations.

The adoption of PNG is expected to enhance process control, reduce emissions, and improve overall operational performance while also optimizing costs.

This initiative follows a similar move by Tata Steel’s Ferro Alloys & Minerals Division (FAMD) at its Jajpur Ferro Alloys Plant in Odisha, where furnace oil was earlier replaced with PNG.

The inauguration of the PNG facility at FAP Gopalpur was attended by senior Tata Steel officials, including B.D. Nanda, Chief (Operations – Ferro Alloys Plants), FAMD; Kishore Baran Maity, Head, FAP Gopalpur; Atla Rambabu, Head, Safety (FAP and FPC), FAMD, along with other executives.
