THE JHARKHAND STORY DESK

Mumbai, Nov 15: ‘The Fable’ starring Manoj Bajpayee has clinched the Best Film award at the 38th Leeds International Film Festival in the UK.

Directed by writer-director Raam Reddy, “The Fable” won the award in the Constellation Feature Film Competition, which recognizes the best in “new, trailblazing cinema from around the world”.

“The Fable,” a US-Indian co-production, follows Dev (Bajpayee), who encounters mysteriously burnt trees on his vast fruit orchard estate in the Indian Himalayas. Despite his efforts to prevent further fires, the situation escalates, ultimately forcing him and his family to confront their true selves, according to the official plot.

This is a significant milestone for Indian cinema, as no Indian film has ever received this honor at the festival since it began in 1987.

The award comes after “The Fable” achieved notable successes, including its world premiere at the Berlinale Film Festival 2024 and winning the Special Jury Prize at the 2024 MAMI Mumbai Film Festival.
