Thunderstorms, gusty winds to continue across Jharkhand till June 7: IMD

Jamshedpur, June 2: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds reaching speeds of 40-50 kmph at isolated places across Jharkhand till June 7.

According to the latest weather bulletin, an upper-air cyclonic circulation persists over south Gangetic West Bengal and adjoining parts of Jharkhand and Odisha between 1.5 km and 3.1 km above mean sea level.

Another upper-air cyclonic circulation, which was earlier located over east Vidarbha and adjoining Chhattisgarh, has shifted to southeast Madhya Pradesh and neighbouring areas and extends up to 1.5 km above mean sea level.

Under the influence of these weather systems, thunderstorm activity is expected to continue across the state over the coming days.

Thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds (40-50 kmph) are likely at isolated places over southern and adjoining central parts of Jharkhand.

June 4-5

Similar weather conditions are expected over northeastern and adjoining central districts.

Thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds are likely over southern and central parts of the state.

June 7

Thunderstorms and lightning are expected at isolated places over central Jharkhand.

IMD Advisory

The IMD has advised residents to remain alert during thunderstorm activity and avoid taking shelter under trees or near electric poles during lightning events.

Monsoon Yet to Reach Kerala

The southwest monsoon is yet to make its onset over the Kerala coast. According to meteorologists, current atmospheric conditions are not favourable for its advance, and it may take a few more days before the monsoon reaches Kerala.

The progress of the monsoon over the Arabian Sea and adjoining regions is being closely monitored, with further updates expected in the coming days.
