New Delhi, Dec 14: As a result of his “gross misconduct” and “defying the Chair” during the proceedings on Thursday morning, Trinamool Congress Rajya Sabha member Derek O’Brien has been suspended from taking part in the remainder of the winter session of parliament which will continue until December 22.
A motion to suspend the Trinamool member has been adopted by the Upper House of the Parliament.
Demanded Home Minister to address security breach
O’Brien had asked talking about the security breach event, in which two individuals blew up yellow smoke canisters by jumping from the visitors’ gallery into the Lok Sabha.
Shortly afterwards, the Rajya Sabha Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar named the Trinamool MP and instructed him to exit the House.
In spite of the Chair’s warning, O’Brien and a few other opposition members persisted in their protest and asked that Union Home Minister Amit Shah appear in the House to answer for the security breach incident that occurred yesterday.

TMC’s Dola Sen calls for action against BJP MP Simha
Trinamool MP Dola Sen, while speaking outside Parliament, called for action against BJP MP Pratap Simha, who reportedly facilitated the issuance of a visitor pass for Parliament to the accused Manoranjan.
“Why is the Ethics committee is quiet on this? Pratap Simha who is a BJP MP, why is he not being expelled. We seriously want to know if the security of parliamentarians is compromised then what will happen to the people of the county? Home minister did not even give statement on this. TMC needs a proper investigation” TMC MP Dola Sen stated.
