Ranchi, Nov 8: The top-seeded players — International Master (IM) Aaryan Varshney of Delhi, IM Shubhyan Kundu of Bengal, Shreyansh Shubham Patnayak of Odisha, and Kumar Gaurav of Bihar — shared points in the 6th round of the All India FIDE Rating Chess Championship being held at Chaibasa in West Singhbhum.
In the sixth-round encounters, Aaryan Varshney drew with Shubhyan Kundu, while Shreyansh Patnayak held Kumar Gaurav to a draw. With these results, Aaryan Varshney, Shubhyan Kundu, and Kumar Gaurav jointly lead the championship table with 5.5 points each, keeping the title race wide open.

In other 6th-round matches, Roop Mukherjee of Bengal defeated Vibhash Kumar of Jharkhand, and Anurag Jaiswal, also from Bengal, overcame Kamal Kishore Devnath of Jharkhand.

Earlier, in the 5th round, Aaryan Varshney had beaten Abeer Mitra of Bengal, while Shubhyan Kundu ended the winning streak of Krishna Kumar Sahu of Jharkhand. Kumar Gaurav secured a win against Shivam Satyansh of Odisha, and Dipro Mandal of Bengal drew with Krishna Kumar of Bihar.

According to the West Singhbhum District Chess Association, the prize distribution ceremony will be held tomorrow (November 9) at 3 PM at Khirwar Banquet Hall, Chaibasa. Deputy Commissioner Chandan Kumar will be the chief guest at the event.
