Dhanbad, Nov 11: The movement of trains on the Grand Chord line under the Dhanbad Rail Division of East Central Railway (ECR) zone was resumed more than four hours after the accident on the Koderma- Gomoh rail section on Saturday.
An official of Dhanbad Rail Division said that the track was cleared at around 4 p.m., and train movement duly started. The official said first the victim train (12801 up) Puri -New Delhi- Purushottam Express was brought to Gomoh by a diesel engine from the accident spot and thereafter sent to Delhi by an electric engine.
The trains of the Grand Chord line that were halted at different stations following the accident were set off for their destination.
Senior Divisional Commerce Manager (Sr DCM) of Dhanbad Rail Division Amaresh Kumar told media persons that the accident occurred around 12.05 pm.
The train no. 12801 Purushottam Express was going to New Delhi from Puri when a Pento – overhead electric (OHE) wire fell on it near Parsabad railway station between Gomoh – Koderma railway stations. The train was running at a speed of 130 kmph.
As the electric supply stopped all of a sudden, an emergency brake was taken to stop the train in which two persons were injured and died of jerk.
After getting information Dhanbad Rail Division manager KK Sinha along with senior officials reached the spot and started operation for clearing tracks. The new general manager of East Central Railway, AK Khandelwal, was also scheduled to visit on the spot.
