Jamshedpur, November 4: Parsudih police have arrested two persons allegedly involved in the purchase and sale of brown sugar and seized 12.54 gm of the contraband during a raid behind Shyama Prasad Inter College in the Karandih area.
The raid was conducted as part of a police operation launched on the directions of East Singhbhum Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Ehtesham Waqarib.
Acting on the instructions of the district police chief, a team from Parsudih police station carried out the operation and apprehended the two accused at the spot.
Police officials said the two accused were taken into custody and subsequently produced before a court. Both have been remanded to judicial custody.
The police are investigating the source of the seized contraband and trying to ascertain whether the arrested persons were part of a larger network involved in the supply and distribution of brown sugar in the city.
The recovery of multiple packets has also raised the possibility that the substance was intended for further distribution.
