Dhanbad, Nov 4: Around two dozen devotees from Jamtara were injured after two buses collided on the Kolkata–Delhi lane of the GT Road near Chali Bangla flyover under Rajganj police station, about 18 km from Dhanbad district headquarters, late Monday night.

The injured were taken to Shahid Nirmal Mahto Medical College Hospital (SNMMCH), where doctors said six passengers sustained serious injuries but were out of danger.

Rajganj police station officer-in-charge Alisha Kumari said the accident occurred around 11:30 pm. The bus, carrying over 100 devotees from Nala and Kundihi areas of Jamtara district, was headed to Luguburu in Bokaro district to attend the Sarna Dharma Conference.

According to police, three buses were travelling at high speed in the same lane when the front bus suddenly applied brakes, triggering a chain collision. The bus carrying the Jamtara devotees was in the middle and was hit hard from behind by another bus.

The bus that caused the collision fled the scene after the accident. Traffic on the Kolkata–Delhi lane of the GT Road was disrupted for some time but was soon cleared by police.
