Ranchi, April 19: Two officers from the Jharkhand state administrative service have faced disciplinary action. Prabhat Kumar, currently posted as the LRDC in Jamtara, has received a censure, while Ashok Kumar, the former SDM of Hazaribagh, has been suspended on charges of murdering his wife.

Censure of Prabhat Kumar Upheld

Prabhat Kumar was appointed as the LRDC of Jamtara in 2021 but failed to take charge of the position. Due to this, he was suspended on 14 June 2024. During departmental proceedings, he cited several issues in his defence but failed to provide any solid evidence.

As a result, his suspension was lifted, but he was given a censure as punishment. This censure has now been upheld, as his second explanation also lacked sufficient evidence.

Ashok Kumar Suspended

Ashok Kumar, who served as the SDM of Hazaribagh, has been suspended on charges of murdering his wife. His suspension took effect from 10 February 2025, the day he was taken into judicial custody.

The Department of Personnel and Administrative Reforms issued the suspension based on a report from the Deputy Commissioner of Hazaribagh. According to the suspension order, Ashok Kumar will rejoin the department after his release from jail.
