Jamshedpur, Dec 24: In a significant breakthrough against left-wing extremism, Manoharpur police arrested two active operatives of the banned CPI (Maoist) during a swift night operation on December 23.

The action, based on specific intelligence inputs, marks a major success in the district’s sustained crackdown on outlawed groups.

According to police sources, Sub-Inspector Mayank Prasad, along with an armed patrol team, received a tip-off about suspicious movement near Surin Tola under Nandpur village, close to Ramdhani Chowk.

Senior officers were immediately alerted, and a team was rushed to the spot to verify the information.

As the police vehicle reached the area, the suspects attempted to flee into nearby fields.

However, alert security personnel swiftly cordoned off the location and, after a brief chase, apprehended both individuals.

During preliminary questioning, the arrested persons were identified as Durjan Jate alias Durga Jate (29), a resident of Dimbuli Tola under Tayang Ikir, and Vimal Nag (22), a resident of Raibeda under the Goelkera police station area.

A search conducted in the presence of independent witnesses led to the recovery of incriminating materials. A red pamphlet of the banned CPI (Maoist) was seized from Durjan Jate, while a mobile phone was recovered from Vimal Nag.

Police officials confirmed that the arrests and seizures were carried out strictly in accordance with legal procedures.

Both accused have been produced before the court, and further interrogation is underway to trace their links with Maoist networks and activities in the region.

Senior officers said the successful operation underscores the heightened vigilance and firm resolve of West Singhbhum police to curb extremist activities and maintain law and order in sensitive areas of the district.
