Sukma, March 1: Security forces in Chhattisgarh’s Sukma district neutralized two Naxalites in an early morning encounter on Saturday, police confirmed.

The gunfight erupted in a forested area under the Kistaram police station limits, where security personnel had launched an anti-Naxalite operation based on intelligence inputs.

The joint team, comprising District Reserve Guard (DRG) personnel and CoBRA commandos, initiated the mission on Friday after receiving reports of Maoist presence.

Sukma Superintendent of Police Kiran Chavan stated that the bodies of two Naxalites have been recovered so far, and the search operation is ongoing. Security forces remain deployed in the region to eliminate any remaining threats.
