Ranchi, Oct 13: In a bid to curb crime and extremist activities in the capital, the police, under the direction of SSP Rakesh Ranjan, have been conducting continuous operations. In this series of actions, the Ranchi Police carried out two encounters within a span of 12 hours.
The first encounter took place in the Tupudana area, where a criminal named Aftab, linked to the Sujit Sinha gang, was shot during a police clash.
The second encounter occurred on Monday afternoon in the Macluskiganj police station area, marking the day’s second confrontation.

According to reports, this gang had been extorting local businesses and residents in the name of the banned extremist organization, Tritiya Sammelan Prastuti Committee (TSPC), creating an atmosphere of fear in the area.
Acting on confidential information about the gang’s activities, the police laid a cordon in Macluskiganj. As soon as the criminals noticed the police, they opened fire, prompting an immediate retaliatory action.
During the encounter, gang member Prabhat Ram was shot and injured. The police promptly apprehended the injured Prabhat Ram and also arrested another gang member at the scene.
During the search of the encounter site, the police recovered two weapons, including a carbine, from the criminals.

The injured Prabhat Ram has been admitted to the hospital for treatment. The police have begun questioning both arrested individuals to identify other members of the gang and map out their network.
