Bijapur, Jan 16: Two commandos from the CRPF’s CoBRA unit sustained injuries when a pressure improvised explosive device (IED), planted by Naxalites, exploded in Chhattisgarh’s Bijapur district early Thursday, police reported.
The injured personnel, identified as Mridul Barman and Mohd Ishaq of the 206th CoBRA battalion, were promptly evacuated to the Basaguda CRPF camp for initial medical care.
Officials confirmed that both are out of danger and have been referred to a hospital in Raipur for advanced treatment.

The incident took place in the Basaguda police station area during an area domination operation conducted by a joint team of security forces. The operation involved personnel from the 229th CRPF battalion and the elite 206th CoBRA unit, which specializes in jungle warfare.
According to preliminary reports, the explosion occurred when the team accidentally triggered the pressure-activated IED planted by Naxalites.
