Mumbai, August 24: In response to the alleged sexual abuse of two minor girls at a local school in Badlapur, Shiv Sena (UBT) chief Uddhav Thackeray accompanied by party leaders and activists, staged a protest in Mumbai on Saturday.
Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Priyanka Chaturvedi criticized the growing number of violent incidents against women, reporting that there have been 12 such cases in the past 10 days, with a daily registration of POCSO Act cases in Thane.
She condemned the rise in heinous crimes in Maharashtra, following Uttar Pradesh, and stressed that women in Maharashtra are calling for the Shakti law to be enacted to combat these crimes.

Nationalist Congress Party (SP) chief Sharad Pawar, joined by Maha Vikas Aghadi party leaders and workers wearing black armbands, also organized a protest in Pune on Saturday to condemn the Badlapur incident.
At the protest, Sharad Pawar highlighted that reports of violence against women in Maharashtra are a daily occurrence. He called on the government to take the incident seriously and condemned the administration’s response, which he said trivializes the issue by labelling it as political, demonstrating a lack of sensitivity.
“There is not a day in Maharashtra when there is no news of atrocities against women. The government should take this incident seriously. The government is saying that the opposition is doing politics, calling it politics shows how insensitive the government is,” Sharad Pawar stated.
