New Delhi, Jan 25: The US Supreme Court has approved the extradition of Tahawwur Rana, convicted in the 26/11 Mumbai attacks, to India. The country’s highest court has reportedly rejected his plea challenging the conviction.
India has been seeking the extradition of Rana, a Canadian citizen of Pakistani origin, for several years. He is wanted in connection with the 2008 Mumbai terrorist attacks.
With this development, the path is now clear for bringing the 26/11 Mumbai attack accused Tahawwur Rana to India.

According to experts, this was Tahawwur Rana’s final legal opportunity to avoid extradition to India. Earlier, Rana had faced defeats in legal battles in several US federal courts, including the Court of Appeals.
On November 13 last year, he filed a petition seeking certification before the US Supreme Court. Interestingly, the Supreme Court rejected his petition on January 21, just one day after Donald Trump was sworn in as President.
Reports indicate that Rana is currently being held at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Los Angeles.
