Launched to provide direct financial assistance to economically vulnerable women, the Maiyaan Yojana has become a cornerstone of Jharkhand’s social welfare strategy. The scheme played a key role in the last assembly election, where it was seen as a game-changer. Its direct outreach and impact on rural households significantly boosted public support for the ruling party, helping to consolidate its voter base across key constituencies.

The World Bank team shared experiences from projects it supports across India and expressed interest in collaborating with the Jharkhand government to strengthen development planning, program design, and execution mechanisms.

Both sides agreed to continue the dialogue and organise a joint workshop in Ranchi to explore opportunities for deeper cooperation.
