Dhanbad, March 17: 10 first-year MBA students, including four girls, from IIT (Indian School of Mines) Dhanbad were injured in a road accident while on a tour of Sikkim.

According to reports received at the IIT ISM headquarters, the accident occurred on Friday around 9:30 PM in Pixabay, Mangan district, North Sikkim. The students were traveling from Lachung to Gangtok in a Mahindra Max tourist vehicle when the driver lost control, causing the vehicle to plunge nearly 100 feet into a gorge.
Students and Driver Sustain Injuries
Official sources at IIT ISM stated that three students sustained serious injuries and were referred to STNM Hospital in Gangtok, while the remaining seven are receiving treatment at a local hospital in Mangan. The driver was also injured in the accident.

All 10 students, residing in Ambar and Rojlin hostels, had taken a trip to Sikkim during the four-day Holi break from March 13 to 16.

Institution Notifies Families
IIT ISM Security Officer Ram Manohar informed the media that all injured students hail from South Indian states, and their guardians have been notified. The institution has obtained detailed information about the accident and the students’ condition from Sikkim police.
IIT ISM to Take Disciplinary Action
Sources at IIT ISM indicated that the institution may take disciplinary action against the students, as they had embarked on the trip without prior permission or informing their respective hostel wardens.
