Jamshedpur, September 11: City-based social organisation Naman on Thursday organised its annual tribute programme to commemorate Param Vir Chakra awardee Shaheed Abdul Hamid, paying homage to the legendary soldier for his exceptional courage, valour and supreme sacrifice during the 1965 India-Pakistan war.
The programme was attended by women, youth and prominent citizens, who offered floral tributes to the braveheart and recalled his extraordinary devotion to the nation.
Speakers highlighted Abdul Hamid’s indomitable spirit, courage and unwavering commitment to defending the country in the face of grave challenges.
‘True tribute lies in following martyrs’ ideals’
In the absence of Naman founder Amarpreet Singh Khanuja Kale, chief patron Braj Bhushan Singh conducted the programme and said the contribution of martyrs should be remembered not merely through ceremonial events but by following the ideals for which they laid down their lives.

“True tribute to our martyrs lies in imbibing their ideals, patriotism and spirit of sacrifice in our own lives. Naman Parivar will continue to work towards taking the stories of the nation’s bravehearts and their sacrifices to the younger generation,” he said.
Senior journalist Jaiprakash Rai described Abdul Hamid’s life as an enduring example of patriotism, courage and dedication to duty. He said the Param Vir Chakra awardee’s fearless sacrifice for the motherland would continue to inspire generations to serve the nation with commitment and pride.
‘Abdul Hamid’s courage remains a glorious chapter’
Varun Kumar, founder of the All India Ex-Servicemen Service Council, said the valour and sacrifice of Indian soldiers remained among the country’s greatest strengths.
“The courage displayed by Abdul Hamid under extremely challenging circumstances is a glorious chapter in the history of the Indian Army. Remembering such bravehearts strengthens our resolve towards our duties and responsibilities as citizens,” he said.
Ramleela Utsav Committee’s Ramkeval Mishra and Tuiladungri Gurdwara Prabandhak Committee’s Jaswant Singh were among those who paid homage to Abdul Hamid and recalled his remarkable courage and supreme sacrifice.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Jugun Pandey, who expressed gratitude to the guests, women, youth and other dignitaries for joining the tribute to the decorated war hero.
