Ranchi, March 28: 15 years after JMM chief Shibu Soren’s elder son Durga Soren died in sleep, Sita Soren termed the death of her husband as suspicious and demanded a high-level investigation.
Sita Soren, who the BJP has fielded from the Dumka parliamentary constituency, is Shibu Soren’s eldest daughter-in-law (bahu).
Addressing a press conference at the BJP state headquarters, Sita said that she could not tolerate her husband’s insult. “The late Durga Soren was a strong leader of JMM who nurtured the JMM with his blood and sweat,” she said.
She said she raised this matter several times in the family, but it was ignored. “I have brought up my daughters after enduring pain and suffering in the family,” she pointed out.
Durga Soren died on May 22, 2009
Notably, Durga Soren died in sleep on May 22, 2009, at his residence in sector-I of Bokaro city.
The then Bokaro SP Laxman Prasad Singh, who has joined the BJP now, said that there were injury marks on the back of Durga’s head. A small bloodstain was also found on his bed.
JMM is a party of brokers: Sita
Sita further said that the JMM is no longer the party of late Durga Soren’s era. “This party has now become a party of brokers and middlemen. Wherever you go, even in the districts, only brokers and middlemen dominate the party,” she pointed out.
She said that today, Kalpana Soren also insulted the Late Durga Soren. “Starting her political innings, she took the names of other martyrs of the state but did not remember late Durga Soren ji,” she added.
Women not respected in JMM: Sita
The BJP candidate said that women are not respected in JMM. “She was constantly feeling humiliated at the party and in the family. Therefore, she took a big political decision,” Sita added.
Lauding the BJP, Sita said that it can develop the country and the state. “Under the leadership of Narendra Modi ji, India’s flag has risen high in the country and the world. The pride of the country has increased. India’s economy has become strong,” she pointed out.
She said villages, poor people, farmers, Dalits, and backward women are all joining the mainstream of development.
Sita said that Modi Ji’s resolve to develop India would be fulfilled under his leadership. “In the Lok Sabha elections, the NDA will win all 14 seats and cross the mark of 400 seats in the country,” she said.
Earlier, BJP state president Babulal Marandi, Organisational Secretary Karmavir Singh and Leader of Opposition Amar Kumar Bauri welcomed Sita and said that the state’s people are ready to reject the JMM.
The media person in charge, Shivpujan Pathak, and state spokesperson Pratul Shah Deo were also present at the press conference.
