Ranchi, Nov 8: Additional Chief Electoral Officer Dr Neha Arora has said that this time a total of 2,60,814 applications have been received for voting through postal ballot for the assembly elections.

“The process of voting through postal ballot is going on. These applications for the postal ballot are more than any previous general election. This makes it likely that this time the voting through postal ballot will increase compared to previous elections,” she said.

Addressing a press conference, Arora said that the mock poll process will start at 5.30 am on the day of voting. “All polling agents are expected to be present at their respective polling stations during the mock poll,” she said and also released promotional materials related to the SVEEP.

VoteDeneChalo

She said that #VoteDeneChalo, a social media campaign will be run by the Election Commission simultaneously across the state on Saturday. The time will be from 5 pm to 7 pm. In this, BLOs and BAG (Booth Level Awareness Groups) will conduct voter awareness programmes at polling stations from morning. They will post and share photos, videos, audio etc. of the programme on their social media platforms with #VoteDeneChalo.

She appealed that in this campaign, along with the general public, media persons should also post and share election awareness content from their social media accounts with this hashtag.

47 FIRs for model code violation

She informed that till now a total of 47 FIRs have been registered on the charge of violation of the Model Code of Conduct and the process of action is being carried out.

A maximum of 24 cases of violation of the Model Code of Conduct have been reported from the Garhwa district. FIRs have been registered in 5 cases in Ranchi district as well.
