THE JHARKHAND STORY DESK

New Delhi, March 25: The Centre has clarified that there are no changes in LPG refill booking timelines, urging people not to fall for rumours and avoid panic booking of cooking gas cylinders.

No change in LPG booking timeline

The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas said reports claiming revised timelines—45 days for PMUY, 25 days for single-cylinder, and 35 days for double-cylinder connections—are false.

As per existing rules, LPG refill booking timelines remain:

  • 25 days in urban areas
  • 45 days in rural areas, irrespective of connection type

The government stressed that there is no shortage of LPG, petrol, or diesel in the country, and sufficient stocks are available.

Supply concerns amid global tensions

The clarification comes amid concerns triggered by the ongoing West Asia conflict, which has disrupted the movement of oil tankers and pushed up global crude prices. Reports indicate a drop in India’s LPG imports, partly due to disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz, a key route for nearly 40% of India’s crude imports.

Government steps to ensure supply

Officials said India is strengthening fuel supply infrastructure, including expanding pipelines and diversifying sources, to deal with global uncertainties.

The Ministry also confirmed that refineries are operating at high capacity with adequate crude reserves, and domestic LPG production has been increased to meet demand.
