2 youths arrested with country-made pistols near Daltonganj railway station

 

Daltonganj, April 6: Two youths were arrested by the police near Daltonganj railway station in the early hours of Monday, with two country-made pistols and ammunition recovered from their possession.

Arrest After Firing Incident

According to police, the arrests were made following a tip-off about firing in the area around 3 am. A team from Town Outpost (ToP) 2, led by in-charge Rakesh Singh, rushed to the spot and spotted two youths attempting to flee.

The duo was apprehended, and a search led to the recovery of one country-made pistol from each of them, along with live and spent cartridges.

Planned Robbery, Say Police

Police said the accused, identified as Anshu and Mantu, both residents of the station locality, allegedly intended to use the weapons to target passengers.

“They appear to be marijuana addicts. They had these weapons to intimidate and rob passengers to arrange money for drugs,” said Rakesh Singh.

Sources added that the youths admitted to firing shots in the air to create panic.

Both accused were produced in court and sent to judicial custody on Monday.
